Yu-Gi-Oh was one of my first introductions to anime and collectible cards games. I used to watch the show each afternoon and as I had some disposable income, would also spend a fair amount of money on the cards. I still wish I would have hung onto those cards as I had quite the collection and basically gave them away when I moved onto other games.
When I became a father I even tried introducing my kids to Yu-Gi-Oh but they fell for the trap of Pokemon and went that route instead. It’s not that the Pokemon cartoon and card game are necessarily bad but…Yu-Gi-Oh is vastly superior or at least it was the last time I dueled.
But I digress and what has me reminiscing about anime series and card game that I used to really enjoy is a recent build from the DIY Prop Shop. In this prop shop build, Vinny takes on the challenge of recreating the mystical Millennium Puzzle that is worn by Yugi Muto that allows him to transform into Yami Yugi to help him during duels. Just go with it, it is anime after all.
In this prop recreation Vinny uses foam, cardboard, glue and some spray paint to create a detailed and extremely accurate representation of the Millennium Puzzle that looks easy enough to follow that even those with minimal prop building skills should be able to create something passable.
