Indiana Jones is one of those iconic characters that many of us as kids, pretended to be. He was the bullwhip crackin, fedora wearing explorer that we only hoped we could be and for the longest time, I assumed that an archaeologist was someone who traveled into remote areas looking for treasure to bring back to the museums. I think that Indiana Jones was responsible for sending many kids from the 80’s off into a career of archaeology much in the same way that Jurassic Park another Spielberg movie sent kids off to become paleontologists.
Raiders of the Lost Ark is a near perfect movie in the eyes of many people. It has memorable characters, iconic action sequences and it’s a whole lot of fun. One of the movies most iconic sequences and possibly one of the most iconic sequences of any movie has to be that of the rolling boulder. Here we see Indiana Jones working to grab an idol, thinking everything is fine and then the trap is sprung and he must escape or face certain death.
Yet, that scene almost didn’t happen and some of the more memorable sequences within the scene happened by accident all things I was unaware of until I checked out the above video from CineFix. In the video they really break down and analyze that scene to decipher what made it work and what made it so memorable and along the way add in a bit of trivia and facts that you may not know.
