Cosplayers are a unique and talented bunch of individuals. They are able to use ordinary materials such as fabric, plastic and foam and with time, patience, craftsmanship and an ever so meticulous eye for detail turn those raw materials into amazing costumes that represent every possible fandom on earth. Each week here on House Of The Geeks we want shine a spotlight on these amazing makers and show off our favorite cosplay that they have created.
Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is one of those pinnacle movies from the 80’s that was a must watch for kids growing up in that era. It ended up being a dark movie that freaked out many parents and ushered in the PG-13 rating. The movie of coursed featured the title character of Indiana Jones on his archaeological search for treasure, a grand adventure, human sacrifice and a new character of Willie Scott.
In one memorable scene we see Willie singing and dancing in a nightclub and she is wearing this beautiful sequined dress that sparkles like the night sky.
Now, when you think of Indiana Jones cosplay the first thing you think of isn’t going to be Ms. Scott, it’s going to be Indiana Jones and while there have been plenty of amazing Indiana Jones costumes put together, I’ve yet to see a Willie Scott cosplay. That’s all changed though when I discovered Major Sam and her hand made, hand sequined dress that is as screen accurate as I think you could possibly make it.
I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of hours that she had put into the creation of this dress. The attention to detail, the level of accuracy and the staggering amount of dedication to recreate a dress that is as screen accurate as possible is simply mind blowing. Then to top it all off Major Sam gets into full character with the hair and dress and you would be hard pressed to tell the two apart. Don’t believe me? Check out the gallery below.
As I said, this is one impressive cosplay and one that you would never think of as cosplay. While most cosplay’s are big creations that feature over-sized weapons, big guns, armor and more, I find that while this Willie Scott dress and cosplay are deceptively simple looking (compared to the big armor, guns and other weapons) it most definitely is not and I would argue probably took more time to complete than many of those big cosplays.
